You may or may not have heard of pregnancy myths before, but when your expecting a baby, you will hear them all!
Everyone has a trick, test or old wives tale that will give you the definitive answer as to what is the sex of your baby! Some people even go to a medium to pay the spirits for answers, use tarot cards or crystal balls and other such…well *ahem!* crap.
Melissa and I had both agreed early during her pregnancy that we didn’t want to know the sex because we wanted to experience on of life’s greatest surprises; however, we have taken note of various people’s myths and their answers to the big “Is it a boy or girl?” question. Will they be right? We shall see, to see the predictions…
1st Myth, Thread and Needle:
A friend of my neighbors’ myth was that of a thread and needle predicting how many kids you’ll have and the sex of each.(rolls eyes)
Thread the needle, and holding the tip of the string, let the needle rest against your left hand. Then pull the string upward until the needle is hovering above your hand. Now watch its movement.
- Circular movements mean girl
- Linear movement mean boy
- No movement, the test ends
Start over after every reading (linear or circle) until raising the needle produces no movement, meaning no more children.
Melissa and I had these results:
1st: Girl
2nd: Boy
3rd: Boy
That’s right…3 kids!!!
2nd Myth, Tarot cards:
Long story short, my brother Mike was at a party and one of the guest read Tarot cards and predicted a bunch of things for him…some of which have supposedly come true. Her prediction for our baby was a… Girl!
So far that’s 2 votes for the girls and 0 for the boys
3rd Myth, Date Addition:
I got this one from my buddy’s wife. Add up the following three numbers:
- The month(number) of the baby’s conception
- The age of the mother at conception
- The year of the baby’s birth
If the total number is even, its a boy.
If the total number is odd, its a girl.
Here are Melissa’s numbers: 5 (May) + 28 + 8 (200
= 41… its a girl!!!
So there you go folks, these myths are now documented and they will be tested in the coming days! They all say Melissa is having a girl. Truth or fiction???
Stay tuned!
Well, I’ll have to be different and say it will be a boy especially with these great odds!! Or it could be a lagomorph, but that would just be weird.
OK…ummm, I’m just looking up ‘lagomorph’ and then I’ll be able to reply to your comm… OMG!!!
OMG!!! OMFG!!!! *passes out*
Boy… girl… lagomorph… who cares! As long as the baby is healty and the right color.
I mean “Irish green” of course!
I guess the lagomorph thing would be cheap to feed…carrots are what…50 cents a pound? Tops!
