The weekend is upon us! The possibilities are endless on a Friday night…well for people without kids
. So if you’re stuck at home this post is for you! Those who are young and free, go choke on all that fresh air your getting
Seriously though, if your planning a movie night or watching the big game (GO HABS GO!) this is a great little chip dip recipe to really get your taste buds goin’ wild.
The recipe is from my brother-in-law Bill (first from the left, top row of blog header) and is best served with plain ruffles chips. Lays will do if your in a pinch, but ruffles have got a nice thickness which allows for solid dipping with no breakage, and the ripples on the surface of the chip which maximize the dip adhesion factor when dipping. Yes I am that passionate about my chip & dip!
Ingredients:
- 1 package of Philadelphia cream cheese (the brick size, get the light cheese if your watc
hing your flab) - 3 to 5 large tablespoons of Miracle Whip (yes it has to be Miracle Whip, no substitutes! Don’t be cheap at the expense of comfort food!)
- Half a Lemon (just for the juice)
- Half a red onion
Preparation:
Make sure the Philly cheese is room temperature, if not, nuke it until soft…not melted!
Mix in the Miracle Whip. Add to taste.
Mix in the squeezed lemon juice.
Finally, take the half onion and, with a knife blade, scrape the onion into the mixture. Do this to taste depending on how much onion you like
And that’s it! You can warm it up for 30 seconds in the microwave if you wish. Now dig in and enjoy!
Have a great weekend everybody!
It sounds good. I like my philly mixed with finely chopped sweet onions and finely chopped candied pickles. Chill for an hour or so and break out the Fritos or tortillas. Great for parties too.
Well gpcman, I’d never have thought to put in sweet pickles, but its now on the menu for my next dipping occasion
I also have a great layered Mexican dip I’ll be putting up here soon.
